6 HIGH-INCOME SKILLS YOU SHOULD LEARN NOW

The world economic crisis had become worse in recent times- the worst recession that had ever happened since 1870, after World War II.  According to a World Bank forecast, the global economy shrinks by 5.2% since the advent of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in 2020, and the per capita income losses of Emerging Markets and Developing Economies (EMDEs) will not be unwound till mid-2022. There have been over 13 global economic crises and this period is the deepest of the crisis.

Of course, the effect of this economic crisis is felt across many nations of the world with the devaluation of our currency, hyperinflation of goods, and obviously, loss of jobs across several industries.

The truth is, the job economy is dead. If you think all you need to get a high-paying job is an impressive CV and lots of certification, I would like you to reconsider.

Now, do not get me wrong. I do not mean to say acquiring certificates are not good. They are so great. You will be surprised to know that recruiters are no longer after papers, but the one who gets the job done gets the job.  Your certification without the skills is irrelevant.

In fact, how many recruiters need more hands to do the work with the advent of AI technologies, high-tech software, and lots of amazing 21st-century innovations?

Surprisingly, using these technologies is not as hard as what many people think it to be. The truth is, the ability to interact well with these technologies is what cumulates to high-income skills.

What is a High-Income Skill?

Of course, the words ‘ high-income skill’ implies a certain skill or set of skills that help you generate a high income. Sadly, many of these skills are not taught in our tertiary institutions. The curriculum around schools is not to teach you how to make money independently but to make you work for others and receive monthly payments.

If you are the type that desires the freedom to enjoy life like me and not to be kept within a specific work time frame, I think you should learn one of the high-income skills, which I will discuss later in this blog post.

Interestingly, I can boldly say that if you can learn just one of these high-income skills and become an expert at it, you will never have to work 9-5 anymore. The reason is that this set of skills can pay you your yearly salary in just one month. That’s just the truth.

You do not need a college degree to develop a high-income skill. All you need is the desire, passion, and consistency to be the best at what you want to learn.

What are some of the major High-Income Skills?

Quickly, Let us dive into the six major high-income skills you can learn even if you do not have a university or college degree.

1. Digital Marketing

2. Copywriting

3. Video Editing

4. Affiliate Marketing

5. Web Design and Development

6. Software Development

1. Digital Marketing

The digital marketing skill is all-encompassing. It consists of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM), Social Media Marketing (SMM), and Content marketing. Digital marketing skill is the skill of the century. Every organization that would thrive in this digital age needs a digital marketing strategist.

SEO skill entails the technicality of using keywords to rank specific websites on search engines. This skill is in high demand as many organizations want their company’s website or blog to appear on the Google search engine’s first page.

Interestingly, an average digital marketing expert in the USA earns $57,281 per year, while a freelance digital marketer earns up to $100- $200 per hour. You can learn digital marketing by taking the course for free on Hubspot Academy, Skillshare, or the digital marketing guru, Neil Patel.

2. Copywriting

Are you a salesperson who does not have the confidence to speak face to face with a prospective client? Do you have the persuasive skills that can convert prospects to customers? Do you love writing? If any of these questions answer yes, it is an opportunity for you.

Copywriting is the one-time skill that drives sales for any business online and even offline. Copywriting is the art of using words creatively to appeal to readers’ logic and emotions to take action to buy certain goods or services.  Although the copywriting skill may seem to be a difficult one to develop over time, however, this E-Video will help you develop your Copywriting Skill quickly and make you a better copywriter within a short time.

More so, an average copywriter in the United States earns between $47,031 and $58 615 per year and of course, a freelance copywriter could earn more in a year depending on expertise.

3. Video Editing

According to statistics by Foundr, as seen on their Instagram handle, the next big industry is online courses, including virtual classes, video courses and webinars, and so more.

Awesome!

Several online courses skyrocketed during the COVID-19 pandemic due to the lockdown and restriction by the government. Indeed, online courses have come to stay and the need for video editors is on the rise. Expert video editors on freelance platforms like Fiverr and Upwork earn around $50-$200 hourly, a good one for that skill.

Surprisingly, video editing skill is not as challenging to learn as some of the other high-income skills. With high-definition smartphone cameras, you can create amazing videos and upload them for sales or on Youtube and make money for yourself.

There are some free video editing apps or software that make the work easier. It would help if you learned how to navigate through some of these apps and you are there. Some free video editing software includes Film Maker pro, viva video for smartphones, and lots more.

4. Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a high-income skill with no specialized training at all. This is the one skill that can make you so much money using your social media pages or blog post. Once you have some audience, it becomes easy to delve into affiliate marketing. In affiliate marketing, you earn commission as the affiliate when you sell a product with your affiliate link.

The hozanas affiliate marketing is one of the fastest-growing affiliate programs where you earn commission on sales of trendy and luxury wear, which are available on the Hozanas eCommerce store.

5. Web Design and Development

Web design and development are two skills combined in one. You can learn one and forfeit the other. Since they go hand in hand, I will advise you to get the two. While web design is about the look of a website, web development is all about the functionality of the website.

This is just like talking about the Anatomy and Physiology of the body. While anatomy is about the structure of the body, physiology is all about the function of these structures.

Web design is a high-income skill that deals with the architecture of a website, the layout, contrast, and the physical appearance of a website that users interact with. A website designer should know Photoshop software, colors, and fonts with high creativity.

On the other hand, web developers are sometimes called programmers. They are the ones who write the back-end codes of websites. A web developer should be skilled in a computer programming language like HTML, PHP, and sometimes, the use of content management systems like WordPress.

An average Web Designer in the United States earns $66,494 a year, while a web developer earns $72,980 to $158,303 per year in the United States.

6. Software Development

Software development is an essential computer skill needed to create computer programs called software. There are two types of software. These are the system software and the application software.

The system software, also known as operating system software (OS), is used to input commands into the computer as it translates it to readable machine language. Examples are the Windows Operating system for Microsoft and Mac OS for MacBook and Linux.

The application software is the apps you use on your smart devices to perform simple computational tasks. Some of these are the internet browser, audio players, video editing tools, and a lot more.

To become a software expert, you must learn to understand the following programming languages: Java, C++, PHP, and Simlab. You have a lot of job opportunities in the IT industry if you develop this skill. Also, you can create certain software in your name and sell it for millions of dollars, just the same way Brian Acton developed Whatsapp and sold it to Mark Zuckerberg at $19 billion.

In conclusion, most of these skills can be learned on Youtube within a few weeks to a month if you spend a minimum of 5 hours learning per day.
