There are a few tried-and-true methods for dressing modestly and still look attractive. You don’t have to dress provocatively to draw attention to yourself. 

Nowadays, most men like modestly dressed women, and I believe it’s vital to learn how to attract attention while dressing modestly.

1. Choose Colors that Complement You

Do you know colors that complement your complexion, height, and body size? 

Color impacts our lives in ways we aren’t even aware of. This is also true for your clothes! 

Before selecting your most pleasing color, eliminate the ones that don’t suit you.

For example, if you have medium brown hair and visibly light skin, browns won’t seem to work well for you to look modest. 

A universal black color will do well. It’s considerably more comfortable for me. Likewise, gem colors such as sapphire, ruby, amethyst (purple), and emerald would look great on a person with brown hair and light skin.

Determine which colors suit you best and base your clothing on them.

2. Make Use of Layers

Layering allows you to transform the revealing tops and bottoms of a dress into modest clothing. Finding appropriate clothing is not as simple as it should be. Layering, on the other hand, can transform an immodest top into a cute but tasteful part of your wardrobe.

3. Undershirts

The modest trick of wearing an underskirt might be familiar to you. However, it is worth mentioning as one of the tips to look modest with your clothes. 

Undershirts conceal exposed cleavage. Also, they hide the area right under your armpits, near the side of your breast, that is often seen when you wear a sleeveless top.

You can always wear your favorite undergarment beneath those revealing tops. Experiment with different color schemes. 

A camisole (a sleeveless inner garment) can sometimes be used to add a pop of color to a more subdued blouse or V-neck sweater. This also works with the majority of dresses.

As with many camisoles, you can use safety pins to attach it to your bra to prevent the camisole from slipping down.

4. Top Layer: hoodies and Cardigans

Shrugs and cardigans not only keep your bare arms warm, they also hide clingy tops and camouflage the top of an unflattering skirt. In other words, you can use a cardigan to conceal what you want to hide in your clothes.

Collect cardigans or hoodies in various lengths and colors. Short-sleeved shrugs work well with sleeveless tops in warmer weather to add coverage or color.

There is no biblical reason for a woman to cover her upper arms for modesty. Still, you might prefer them to be covered in some situations, such as when you’re cold in air conditioning or in a more professional setting.

5. Fitted but not too tight

Fitted means that you can tell there’s a body underneath the clothes even though you aren’t comfortable, especially during the extremely cold season. 

6. Dress-up with Accessories

Some of us think using accessories can be very difficult when choosing what to wear. But this is not true.

When in doubt, don’t. If you’re unsure whether something is modest or not, even after layering and trying all the tricks, just put it aside.  Don’t buy it, and don’t wear it. It’s better to be at peace and content in your heart than to worry about it.

In conclusion, fashion is not sinful if it does not violate biblical modesty. Look for modest clothing that is both comfortable and gives you a boost of confidence. God created us to be feminine and beautiful, and it is not wrong to enhance those gifts.
