7 LIMITATIONS TO SUCCESS AND HOW TO OVERCOME THEM

No matter how much you desire to be successful, you might not achieve it if you do not learn how to overcome the limitations to success in your life. Desires are not enough. It would be best to work on yourself-your skill set, behavior, habits, relationships and lots to achieve the success you desire.

So, if there are certain limitations to success, there must surely be a way out of it that makes successful people. Today, I will like to share with you the seven (7) limitations to success and how to overcome them.

1. HATRED FOR WORK

“When pleasure becomes a habit, work becomes a burden.”

OLAWALE ABAIRE

Successful people are not lazy. According to Jim Kukral, “Every single successful person works their butts off to get where they are.” It’s okay to be lazy if you do not want anything special in life. You might want to enjoy the quiet life of mediocrity and stay away from the ‘struggles’ of life. But if you desire to be successful, you must not just sit around the corner and watch opportunities pass by. You should actively engage yourself in doing something that would make you into who you desire to be. I will like to recommend to you a perfect Guide to Self-Improvement and Motivation for Success.

Work hard now so that you can have the freedom to live your best life later.

Sadly, more pleasure is taking the place of work in the heart of many who desire to be successful. Somehow, this present desire for pleasure is one of the limitations of success for anyone who wants to do great things in life.

Love your work and be committed to it. But to love your work, you must do the things you love. Pick up jobs that resonate with your passion, purpose and fulfillment in life.

2. THINKING YOU ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH

The feeling of not being good enough is a limitation in many who desire success. The truth is, success does not come to “good people.” Being good is not a yardstick for success. Rather, understanding basic life principles and taking action creates the success you desire.  So, to be successful, you must first understand that you are enough.

Interestingly, being successful or not depends on how you perceive yourself. If you see yourself less, you might not rise to do more with life. However, if you see yourself as being good enough, up to the task and have what it takes to be successful, you will get it.

3. BEING AFRAID TO COMPETE

Often, people who quit midway through what they start are those who often run from competitions. They seek to find a less competitive environment to thrive.

But listen, you can never find your true self if you run from challenges.

Plants need both the scorches of the sun and the showers of rain to grow well. You cannot escape such in life, too, if you desire to be successful.  You must never forget that your uniqueness comes alive in a competitive environment.

Competition makes room for innovation. For example, I would like you to consider this Jimmy Choo Cate Black Polka Dot Mesh Glitter Clutch Evening Bag, a perfect luxury product of competitors of other luxury brands like Bally,Tod’s Group, Tapestry and the likes.

Competition expands your scope and plunges you deeper into the core of your being to dig out something valuable. Get into environments that will bring out the juice in you and stop feeling okay at this level.

4. THINKING OTHERS ARE A BETTER FIT FOR SUCCESS THAN YOU

Success is not gender-specific, nor is it racial. If anybody can be successful, you too can. Nobody is a better fit for success than anybody. According to Carol Dweck, author of the book Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, two mindsets affect our perspective about success. These are the fixed mindset and the growth mindset.

The fixed mindset believes that your traits, skills and intelligence are fixed, while the growth mindset is to believe you can grow your skills and traits to become successful. Dear friend, always have a growth mindset- believing in yourself that there is more for you than this. Always aspire for something greater and more. Surely, you will get there.

5. BEING COMPLACENT

Complacency is an enemy of success. Anytime you begin to feel you have done enough, complacency has set in. We often do not know the extent to which complacency has gotten into us until we begin to give excuses for what we ought to do. Remember, success is in action and once you quit doing, you stop winning. Most successful person are self made. They learn to show up strong every day irrespective of what they had done the previous day.

Dear friends, never let yesterday’s glory debar you from tomorrow’s success. Keep showing up strong. Do not lose focus of your destination. Success is a destination and until you get there, never quit midway.

6. SEEKING FOR A PERFECT TIMING

Like I rightly said, success is in action. Successful people are doers. If you wait for a perfect time before taking action, you might likely wait forever. There is no perfect timing in this pursuit for success. You make the time perfect for what you want to do.

Step out to give your best at all times. Sell the product with the same zeal as you do other days. Render the service with so much vigor and excellence. Learn to show forth greatly and you will be surprised at how success will eventually catch up with you. Do not wait for a convenient time to act.

7. UNWILLINGNESS TO TRY SOMETHING NEW LIMITS SUCCESS

Success is not for the fearful. If you desire to be successful, you must be ready to pay the price and one of them is to try something new today. Most of the successful people we celebrate today are not better than you. The only difference is that they choose to do something new and it becomes an innovation.

Interestingly, you will be surprised to know that most of the renowned discoveries in the world were mere experimentation and boom, it became an innovation. Never be afraid to try something new. One philosophy in life that has kept me until now is that I choose to try something and fail rather than not to try at all. And most times, it does not end up in failure.

Why not push yourself beyond the limit today and break free from the limitation of success that had been holding you bound all this while.
