The word grace, in the bible, is translated from two Greek words; Cheesed and Charis
The ancient Hebrew word Chesed can be found in the Old Testament. It is a term used to describe deliverance from enemies and affliction.
A Greek word used in the New Testament is Charis. In this case, it refers to the salvation of humankind by God.
Grace is a word that most of us grew up with without giving much thought to the meaning of Grace. However, if you are new to Christianity or just discovering it’s the word, you may wonder what grace means.
The word grace appears 170 times in the KJV bible, 39 times in the old testament, and 131 times in the new testament. Thus we know that grace of God is more common in the new testament, which is the coming, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus and the origin of CHURCH.
What is Grace?

If Grace is Unmerited Favor, is God partial?
It is God’s principle that any soul that sins shall die. The reason is that God’s throne is built on Righteousness and Justice.
“The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.”

God is not partial in disposing grace to us. He knew that a man could not help himself, sent His Son to die on our behalf.
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
2 Corinthians 5:21
Jesus has paid the price of our Sin. And in Him, we are righteous. So when your way grace is an unmerited Favor, you are correct. But you know that someone has paid the price that kept attracting the grace of God in your life. God paid the price through His Son, so it was never free.

In the definition of Grace, it does not mean that you will get everything you want without working. No! God does not say you should be lazy. Instead, the grace of God could be viewed as an incentive or benefit that helps you to get to where you may be only when you have worked longer than you did. Grace works only when you have done your responsibility.
Why do you need the grace of God?
The grace of God is made available in our weakness. Because man is frail, God intervened in the Journey Man to help him move faster and achieve a lot in his lifetime.
God promised and has given us His Holy Spirit, who is our Helper. When you have the Holy Spirit, it is a sign that you are walking in the grace of God. The reason is that The Holy Spirit guides you into all truth to know the will of God for you.
“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”

You need Holy Spirit
When you have Holy Spirit, you will live to fulfill your purpose. In this way, God has graced you to never stumble through many things before discovering your purpose in life. God knows us before we were born Jeremiah 1:5.
When you have the Holy Spirit, you will hear Him talk to You and tell you what you have to do, and He also energies you to complete it. The Holy Spirit can help you see the future in dreams, visions, prophecies, or it can take the form of a trance. And you will know what God has for you.
Having the Holy Spirit is synonymous with having the Grace of God. Now you could see why Grace of God does not work outside Christ.
Is there Grace for Sinners?
Yes, God is merciful and operates dynamically. He can give grace to anyone He likes outside Christ. However, the only known grace available for a sinner is the grace of repentance. The meaning of Grace here is different from the law of nature that God has laid from the world’s creation, which is the law of sowing and reaping. Which states that whatever a man sows, that he will reap. This principle rule applies to both sinners and Believers.
“Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?” says the Lord God, “and not that he should turn from his ways and live?”
Ezekiel 18:23
That is the reason why it seems like sinners are living longer than believers. God’s grace of repentance is measured to them, and it comes with a longer life as the Lord waits for them to repent.
Biblical Types of Grace
The saving grace/ Grace of repentance
“even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God”.
Ephesians 2: 5-8
This is the type of grace available for Everyone. This grace is given to everyone because we are all saved by faith in God. Our sins have been forgiven. If a sinner prays, it is only this first grace of God that he can access from God. If he must access other grace, he must come to know Jesus.
The serving grace
“As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”
1 Peter 4: 10
God has given us every good gift in Christ. These gifts, He carefully has given us all these gifts differently, for the Kingdom purpose. There is the grace of serving others. With this grace, you will learn to give to people, understand, serve and accommodate them when they wrong you.

Not everybody has a calling to serve. When God has called you to serve in any category, He will equip you with the serving grace which comes with wisdom, knowledge, and understand. In Joshua 1: 5, God, who called Joshua, promised to be with him just as He was with Moses.
The sustaining grace
“Let us, therefore, come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Hebrews 4:16
This grace is the energy that sustains us when we are in need. As a believer and every other person, we will experience challenges in Life. But God has promised us that Will is with us.
Isaiah 43:2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.”
This grace is made available in the time of need. When you pray, you could hear God through His Holy Spirit talking to you. He will give you Peace that which is above human understanding. You will find rest in the time of trouble.
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You because he trusts in You.”
Isaiah 26:3
You can only experience this grace when you are in the right stand with God.
The Eternal grace.
We are saved by God’s grace. And by His grace, we will finish this race. In our journey of faith with God, the eternal grace keeps us (believers) on track.
Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ

In the definition of Grace of God, God’s grace gives us aid in times of weakness and enables us to live a full life. It is a roadmap and energy that sustains us as we live. When you do not know the location or have a roadmap of where you are going, you will make so many mistakes and will lose the most precious gift, which is time.
